BoatU.S. Opportunities for Sea Scouts |
 |

We are delighted to announce an agreement between BoatU.S, the nation's largest recreational boating
organization, and the Boy Scouts of America Venturing Division to advance Sea Scouting nationwide.
For 35 years BoatU.S. (Boat Owners Association of The United States) has protected the interests of
all recreational boaters and promoted boating safety. Today the association provides more than 40
valuable services to its 520,000 members, ranging from marine insurance to consumer advocacy to
on-the-water assistance plus an award-winning bimonthly publication.
The BoatU.S.-Sea Scout agreement has several major components. Here's how to take advantage of this
partnership:
BoatU.S. Membership
All Sea Scout youth, adult leaders and volunteers are now entitled to BoatU.S. membership at the
Cooperating Group annual dues rate of $9.50, half the regular BoatU.S. dues. Current BoatU.S.
members within the Sea Scout family may also renew their membership at the Coop Group rate.
Join one of three ways: Call BoatU.S. Membership Services at 800/395-2628, log on to
www.BoatUS.com and click on
"Membership," or visit a BoatU.S. retail Marine Center. Use the Coop
Group number for Sea Scouting: GA84646B to get the discounted dues rate.
Insurance and Towing Assistance
In addition to the above, membership qualifies individuals to purchase competitive insurance coverage
for recreational vessels through BoatU.S. Marine Insurance
as well as on-water towing assistance through TowBoatU.S. and
roadside assistance through the
BoatU.S. Trailering Club. Information on all
these services is available on www.BoatUS.com or by calling
800/283-2883 for Marine Insurance and 800/888-4869
for Towing Services and 800/245-6923 for Trailering Club.
Our two organizations have worked together for over a year in many informal ways to promote Sea
Scouting and as we look to implement this new, more formal arrangement, we ask you to help us make
it a fruitful partnership for today's youth and tomorrow's recreational boaters.
