Voice of the Sea Scout Survey

The National Sea Scout Boatswain is looking for your input, along with the input from all your shipmates!

We need your voice in order to set a course for the future of Sea Scouting. In order for your voice to be heard, your need to fill out the "Voice of the Sea Scout" Survey and encourage your entire ship to do the same. From programs, to technology, advancement and more, we want to know what you think! The survey should take you less than 30 minutes to complete but could bring a lasting impact to our program.

Program Planning

Journey to Excellence changes the basic way we measure and recognize success in the Boy Scouts of America by moving away from measuring process and moving to measuring performance. The following provides specific information to help you understand the criteria and exactly what data will be used to determine the three levels of performance. In planning your strategy, use actual numbers from the previous year to guide your performance improvement goal planning. The ship youth leaders should take the lead in making this assessment. In each area, the ship may qualify by meeting a specific standard or by showing measured improvement.

Monthly quarterdeck meetings are held by the officers of the ship. The Skipper and other adult officers attend this meeting. The boatswain determines an agenda with the Skipper’s approval, and conducts quarterdeck meetings.

The ship activities that follow have been successful across the country. Use these suggestionsas you develop your own ship program.
