Sea Scouts BSA

The National Boatswain youth selection committee has selected Abigail “Abbey” H. of Hampstead, North Carolina as the 2025-26 National Boatswain. She is a member of Ship 2003 chartered to Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 6. Cape Fear Council in Wilmington, NC is her home council.

Abbey has extensive experience in various leadership roles within Scouting at the local, section, and national levels. Holloman founded her own ship, Turducken, and has also served as Boatswain’s Mate of Eastern Support.   

Abbey is committed to strengthening the Sea Scouts program by improving access to resources, increasing social media presence, and fostering collaboration between ships and the National Quarterdeck. Her goals include enhancing NQD efficiency, promoting consistency across NQD terms, and developing comprehensive training and mentorship programs. 

Abbey also has a strong record of community and school involvement, including her work with DECA, the National Honor Society, and the Coast Guard JROTC program. Academically, she plans to attend the University of Maine at Orono to major in political science and minor in physics, with future aspirations to serve as a foreign area officer in the Navy and work in local and state government.
