Our speaker is David Hyde. David’s first encounter with Amateur Radio happened when he was about 12, living in Florida. Being an electronics hobbyist, David was immediately hooked. But it seemed too expensive at the time. Many years later David was able to use shortwave radios during his time in the US Army in Germany. Then in 2012 David’s cousin challenged him to get his Ham license. David got licensed right away and has enjoyed the hobby ever since. David was a member of US Army MARS (Military Auxiliary Radio System) for a few years before joining the Coast Guard Auxiliary in 2019. Since then, David has become a qualified Instructor and a Telecommunications Officer (TCO). David is currently the FSO-CM, SO-CM and ADSO-CM for MD. David participates in the District 1 North and South HF Contingency Radio. David is currently the Net Control Station for the District 5 North and South HF Net. His Amateur Extra callsign is N3ADE.
