Biographical Info

Curt joined Scouting as a Cub Scout back in 1976. He was active as Scout until his Troop folded in 1989 just prior to him completing his Eagle rank. However, as Curt says, “it’s all good,” he has a great time as a scout and attended Summer Camp five times as a Scout.

Curt has been an “official” active Scouter for 12 years (although there were a number of years before that where he helped with activities). He currently serves as a Troop Committee Chair, Venturing Advisor, and Chartered Org Rep & Committee Chair for a Ship, all while serving as a Unit Commissioner, and Vice President for Alumni Relations in Prairelands Council. Curt also served as Area 3 as their Vice Commodore for Training, Central Region Vice Commodore for Membership and has served on Seabadge staff – those are in addition to his duties as Commodore of the Central Region.

Recognized for his dedication to Scouting, Curt has been presented several notable awards from the BSA including the District Award of Merit, Distinguished Commissioner’s Award, Vale La Pena!, Whitney Young Jr, and the Silver Beaver.

Professionally, Curt is the General Manager for Carmart in Champaign, IL. He’s worked in the car business since 1989. In early 2016 he expanded the company’s market from cars and trucks to include travel trailers. Curt has received the General Motors Mark of Excellence eight times, and Sales Master nine times. He’s a graduate of Northwood University in Midland Michigan with a degree in marketing.
