Has everyone in your Ship completed the new version of Youth Protection Training? Please give this urgent matter your immediate attention.
In February, 2018 a new version of Youth Protection Training was released to replace the three previous versions of Youth Protection Training (Y01, Y02 and Y03). All Councils were advised that all Adult Scouters and Sea Scout and Venture Participating Adults were required to take the new training before October 1, 2018 to remain registered in Scouting.
In early July, the “Effective Through” (Expiration) dates in my.scouting.org Training Manager were reset to September 30, 2018 or sooner for the code Y01 for all those Adult Scouters and Sea Scout and Venture Participating Adults who have not yet taken the new Youth Protection Training. On October 1, 2018, the process of expiring their membership will begin. No one who has not taken the new Youth Protection Training (YPT2) will be rechartered. The codes Y02 and Y03 are no longer valid for Youth Protection Training. Expiration dates for these codes are no longer valid nor are they monitored.
All Skippers (SKs), Committee Chairs (CCs) and Chartered Organization Representatives (CORs) can verify Youth Protection Training status for all Adult Scouters and Sea Scout and Venture Participating Adults in their Ship through Training Manager in my.scouting.org. On the Ship’s landing page in the YPT section (right-hand green or green/red circle), click on the “YPT Aging Report” icon in the upper right-hand corner. Choose “Export PDF” for a summary of YPT status for the Ship’s Adult Scouters and Sea Scout and Venture Participating Adults. (Participating Adults are youth members 18 years old but not yet 21 years old.) A sample report is attached.
The HOW TO GUIDE FOR TAKING YOUTH PROTECTION TRAINING on-line is attached. It should be followed carefully and completely to assure that Youth Protection Status in my.scouting.org is correctly reported. (Taking YPT on-line is not as complicated as it looks.) The new Youth Protection Training (YPT2) is available 24/7 at my.scouting.org.
Contact your Council or District Professional to determine whether the new version of Youth Protection Training will be offered in face-to-face sessions during August or September of 2018.
