Sea Scouts BSA

This year our Sea Scout Academy went swimmingly, with record attendance from all over the region! All our tracks ran well and on target, we conducted nightly boatswains’ meetings where we advised and addressed the concerns of all of our ships boatswains. The Sea Scouts we able to sail, kayak, learn marlinspike seamanship, and track six was even able to use the engine-room and bridge simulators at Texas A&M Galveston! There were a few hiccups in our engine but thanks to our staff and the flexibility of our Scouts we kept the ship steaming ahead. We once again had a record breaking number of youth attend, packing out our dorm facilities.

Though a bit chilly, the weather was beautiful, great wind for sailing, a calm harbor for paddling, but most importantly great facilities and warm beds to sleep in. In conclusion with great adult leaders, much of the Area and region quarterdeck, and many wonderful Scouts from across Area 3 this Sea Scout Academy was our best yet!

On Sunday this year at Sea Scout Academy, we conducted a youth led worship service consisting of an invocation, singing amazing grace and a few other hymns, and a short inspirational speech. This ceremony was made possible by Lelaina Clayburg of ship 208.
