The “Fond du Lac Sea Scouts Lighthouse Regatta” is a co-ed competition between B.S.A. registered Sea Scouts from any Central Region Sea Scout Ship, with Scouts racing to earn an invitation to the “William I. Koch International Sea Scout Cup” to be held in 2018. This 2017 racing event will begin and conclude on Tuesday, August 8th, 2017. There will be a limited practice session available on Monday, August 7th, 2017.
The “Motor City Regatta” is a co-ed competition between B.S.A. registered Sea Scouts from the Central Fleet of the Boy Scouts of America, with the Scouts racing to earn an invitation to the “William I. Koch International Sea Scout Cup” to be held in 2018. The 2017 racing event will begin and conclude on Saturday August 5th, 2017. There will be a limited practice session available on Friday August 4th, 2017.
This year’s Chicago-area Sea Scouts’ Thomas R. Smith Regatta will be held July 5, 6, for practice and Friday July 7 for races. Regatta participants are strongly encouraged to attend the practice sessions as they are led by a top professional who is an expert in these 420-class boats. In addition, if the weather forecast is bad on Friday, races on Thursday may be counted.
MAKAHIKI is a weekend full of competition, fun and friendship. Water events include Swimming, Canoe Swap, Row Boating and other fun water related activities.

Happy boating season. We all survived the winter and are preparing for anther summer filled with boating activities. Several thoughts crossed my mind that I thought I should share with you.
Do you love the water, but wish you knew more about sailing? Then come check out the Sea Scout Rendezvous on May 20 from 7 am to 7 pm! It will be at Camp Illinek in Springfield, IL and is open to Venturers, Sea Scouts and older scouts!
Seabadge will be held March 31-April 2 at the Lake Springfield Christian Assembly Camp in Chatham, Illinois. It will begin at 1300 CDT (1:00 p.m.) on Friday and conclude by 1300 CDT (1:00 p.m.) on Sunday.
Bravo Zulu to Area 6 Vice Commodore for Service Bill Reisa! Bill has been assigned as the Branch Chief, Youth Partners, Recreational Boating Safety Outreach Liaison Division for the Coast Guard Auxiliary. As such, he will be our National liaison between Sea Scouting and the Coast Guard Auxiliary. In assuming his new responsibilities, he will also be made a member of the National Sea Scout Service Committee.
