As many of you know, the William I. Koch International Sea Scout Cup is coming up again in 2018, which means it is time to start planning for regional qualifying races to be held this year. The Southern Region has the opportunity to hold FIVE Qualifying Regattas to send Sea Scouts to the 2018 Koch Cup. So it is time to get the boats out of storage and start training and sailing for the teams to prepare for this unique international experience! You can learn more at but meanwhile, Area 9 Commodore Kip Peterson has agreed to serve as our regional coordinator for Koch Cup, and will be establishing the five regional qualifiers soon. If you are interested in hosting one of these qualifiers, contact him at the address below.

The notice of qualifiers has been posted; for a Regional Qualifier to be officially recognized

  1. It must be posted on the Koch Sea Scout Cup web site at least 45 days prior to the Qualifier.
  2. It must have at least five (5) teams competing.
  3. Results and summary of the Qualifier must be provided to the Event Chairman within two (2) weeks after the Qualifier.
